Richmond, VA – October 12, 2010 – Timmons Group, a leader in geospatial consulting and applications development, announced today that Bobbie Atristain has joined the firm to help expand the Emergency Management Solutions practice.

With more than fourteen years of experience as an Information Technology Manager, Bobbie’s contributions to online systems—including extensive work with ArcGIS Server-based emergency management applications—have resulted in the progression of interoperable communications within Homeland Security. She was previously employed by the Virginia Department of Emergency Management (VDEM), where she served as Chief Technology Officer and Information Security Officer. In this role, she served as the technical lead and primary developer of the Virginia Interoperability Picture for Emergency Response (VIPER) application. Bobbie’s efforts on VIPER have received numerous awards, including the Special Achievement in Geographic Information Systems Award by ESRI International, the Governor’s Technology Award for IT as an Efficiency Driver from Governor Kaine, and 2nd Place in the International Association of Emergency Managers Technology & Innovation Award. Her work has directly contributed to the growing use and development of emergency management tools throughout the nation, and has been presented to the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy and Chief Technology Officer, Aneesh Chopra.

Bobbie is a lifelong Virginia resident whose passion for improving emergency management stems from her parents, who were both members of the Gretna Volunteer Rescue Squad. Even as a teenager, Bobbie served as a member of the Gretna Jr. Rescue Squad and was a licensed EMT. Growing up surrounded by EMS volunteers and State Troopers, Bobbie learned the importance of community service and dedication—a lifelong passion and commitment to community service that is shared mutually by Timmons Group.
